Psychotherapy

DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, ALL SESSIONS ARE OFFERED VIA TELETHERAPY.

Talking. Navigating. Understanding.

Today you are one step closer to a new you – A you that feels empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being.

In this demanding world, where responsibility to career, family, and friends can often trump self-care, working to balance the needs of the mind, as well as the physical, spiritual and emotional self can often feel overwhelming.

My goal is to help clients uncover their true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your present life. We will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Applying an eclectic approach to each client, I am informed by several schools of thought, including psychodynamic, relational, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based approaches.  Each approach can help to elucidate the origins of psychological distress and help to guide the therapy process.

I apply therapeutic techniques from various schools of thoughts, to best individualize treatment.

Therapeutic relationship is key

Having worked over a decade as a full time clinical psychologist, it clearly evident that establishing a good rapport with my clients is fundamental.  In fact, clinical research has concluded that the therapeutic relationship is actually the most important component of client satisfaction. Therefore, it is my intent to co-create a therapeutic space where clients are comfortable and open to give feedback within the therapy process.

I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues that span from therapy for depression, bereavement, trauma and relationship issues, to name a few. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help attain the personal growth they’re striving for.

Understanding your past can help me to help you in the present and the future.

Treatment specialization include, but are not limited to:

  • Depression and Anxiety

  • Grief Counseling

  • Work and Career issues

  • Stress Management

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Racial and Cultural Identity

  • LGBTQIA+ issues

  • Relationship Difficulties

  • Parenting Concerns

  • Mood concerns

  • Trauma

  • Fertility issues/miscarriage

  • Chronic fatigue syndrome

  • Life Transitions

I also take special interest in working with clients who are interested in exploring their identities, whether it be racial, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, and these possible intersections.  With that, I have extensive experience working with a diverse clientele, including African-American/Black, LatinX, Asian, and Native American clients, or those seeking LGBTQIA-friendly treatment. Ultimately, I support clients of all backgrounds who may be interested in my individualized, therapeutic perspective.

who I work with

Currently, I see individual adults and couples psychotherapy sessions.

I periodically offer group workshops, combining mood management and yoga techniques. If this sparks your interest, I also offer integrated (with various mindfulness and yoga techniques) sessions as well.

I can provide services to clients in California, New York and New Jersey.

tele-psychology

Being licensed in California, New York and New Jersey, I am able to see clients who are not in the proximity of my physical office. The therapy process can be just as effective using video technology; however, it may not be for everyone, since an in-person relationship may be even more effective in certain circumstances. I also utilize video sessions, when needed, if clients are traveling or need the convenience of video sessions.

currently I am only seeing clients via tele-therapy (confidential video or telephone).

What to expect in the therapeutic process

exploring the past and the present

In order to facilitate a meaningful change, I work by first guiding an examination of your history, current difficulties and interpersonal dynamics. Believing that deeper, long-lasting change is better than simply treating symptoms, I provide treatment that focus not only on the current issues, but exploring how past experiences affect a person's life in the present.  With a deeper understanding on the origin of psychological issues, treatment can then progress with focusing on how to manage and change long-held patterns of beliefs and behaviors.

interpersonal dynamics

In addition, my treatment may also incorporate analyzing the interpersonal dynamics that are created in the therapy office.  Being able to understand and explore dynamics between therapist and client, will allow the client to be better understand and perhaps, change, dynamics in their relationships with friends, family, and intimate partners.

action-oriented techniques

And finally, I provide directive guidance by incorporating specific therapeutic techniques to help you with your current concerns and symptoms. In order to manage your symptoms, such as depression, anxiety, or substance use issues (for example), I will incorporate action-oriented interventions to help you meet your goals. These techniques can include mindfulness and meditative techniques to help you manage your symptoms, as well as direct exercises to incorporate in your daily life, outside of session.

If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
